Plogging is a combination of “plucking” and “jogging,” a multitasking activity that combines burning calories with keeping our environment trash-free.
Using this concept, we managed to collect more than a tonne of trash while jogging along the 2km of the picturesque beach of Pantai Sepat at Kuantan, Pahang.
About 500 volunteers joined us, including students from Kolej Universiti Islam Pahang Sultan Ahmad Shah (KUIPSAS), Kolej Vokasional Kuantan, Kolej Poly-Tech Mara and Universiti Islam Antarabangsa (UIA) of Kuantan. Volunteers from Majlis Perbandaran Kuantan, SW Corp, Alam Flora and Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) were among the active participants as well in this joint effort of keeping the beach clean, while continuing to be healthy in body and mind.
Our other contributions , with the help of SW Corp, included 5 units of swings and 6 units of park benches, as an added attraction for visitors to enjoy the newly cleaned beach. And with the help of participants from UiTM, we provided a number of trash bins made out of recycled plastic bottles for visitors at Pantai Sepat to use, in helping to keep the beach clean.
Not to forget the unfortunate, we paid a visit to the three (3) poor and disadvantaged families within the Pantai Sepat vicinity, under the Ziarah AMAL initiative, to help them out a bit by giving out contributions and cash.
